FAQ

Where is your office?

I offer Teletherapy and in-person therapy.

My Teletherapy is done via Zoom and is HIPAA-approved. You can do these sessions in the comfort of your home or any location.

In-person sessions are currently in a home office at Happy Valley. I will provide my address after you complete two Teletherapy sessions with me.

What should I expect in your office space?

My home office offers a calming environment and a warm and relaxing atmosphere. There is a comfortable grey couch where you can unwind, relax, and talk.

I also offer an outdoor location during the summer. You can expect to see lots of greenery and trees and listen to nature. If you’re lucky, you can see some blue jays fly or a deer walk by. Since this is my home’s privacy, tha ring camera will beutside the house for safety reasons.

What are your hours?
My appointment hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 7:15 PM. I also have some availability on Saturday mornings.
What is the length of the sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes. I won’t abruptly end a session if the time is up. I will make room for it if we need extra time to complete our session correctly.
How can I schedule an appointment?

Please call (503) 741-4542 or email agatha@beautifulsunshinetherapy.com. Expect a response within 24 hours.

Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. I am happy to provide a superbill document to submit to your insurance company. This superbill can go toward your deductible or your job, assuming they offer a work program that supports mental health reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company or work to determine what your plan provides regarding reimbursement.
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that life happens if you cannot make a scheduled appointment. I require 48 hours’ notification in advance. Otherwise, I will charge you the total rate. In the case of an emergency, I will try to reschedule your session within the week if I have an availability that works.
With whom do you work?

I provide services for females ages 16-65 only.

I am one of the few black therapists in Oregon. I work with many people of various ethnicities, genders (LGBTQIA+ community), and cultural belief systems.

Will I have homework between sessions?
Sometimes, I suggest a homework assignment we’ve either talked about or practiced during the session. Discussing homework assignments during the session can help us make more progress toward the goals we want to achieve.
How often should I come to therapy?

It depends on your goals and needs. Therapy is very individualized.

I will typically recommend that the first few sessions be weekly. Eventually, we can move toward bi-weekly sessions and possibly monthly sessions. I will frequently check in with you during the session to see where you are meeting your goals. Doing this allows me to schedule sessions accordingly.

What are some fun facts about you?

I can balance any item on my head while dancing. It’s my kids’ favorite entertainment.

I was born left-handed but forced to switch to right-hand as a young child.

I can make musical sounds using my arms and mouth.
