Postpartum Depression

2103987293“Will this feeling never end?”

You are doing the best you can. Day after day, you wake up and love your little one but are exhausted from lack of sleep. The crying is endless; it wakes you up at night and keeps you up throughout the day.

The last time you ate a decent meal is hard to remember, and you can’t remember the last time you showered. As a new mother, you feel mentally drained. The way you think is not how you ever imagined parenting would be.

Life as a mother of an infant in need makes you feel alone, isolated, and unseen. To the outside world, the baby is perfect. It’s you who is not doing it right! Of course, your baby is perfect – you know that. You start to believe maybe they are right that it is you.

You go into a deep dark depression as the cries get louder and the thoughts in your head become louder. You think your baby is better off without you. “I can’t seem to soothe her! Nothing works – breastfeeding, holding her, walking, nothing works! Make it stop.”

You’ve reached your endpoint.

No one else knows; you’ve even hidden those feelings from your partner. These dark days only get worse and longer.

Now, you are crying, numb, anxious, and maybe panicking.

Your body hurts and doesn’t feel like your own; you feel lonely and hopeless.

Helping you feel that things will get better is where I come into the picture.

It is possible to be trauma-free from the challenging birth experience. You will be able to have an attachment with your little one. Imagine that blissful feeling of watching your baby smile while holding them and feeling absolute joy. You can continue your day without feeling emptiness and thinking you’re a terrible parent. You can get back to sleeping well and eating well again.

Maybe, you want to socialize again and have the confidence to leave the house without being so anxious that something bad will happen to your baby. You can enjoy being with your partner and gain confidence in yourself again.

You are not alone; I am here to help you through these feelings. Our work together will involve Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and you will feel connected with your baby. You can build coping skills to handle the stress of being a new mom and connect again with yourself lovingly.
