Sometimes, in-person doesn’t work.
Work demands make it inconvenient to visit a therapist’s office at an assigned time.
It is hard to leave home as a caregiver or parent.
The thought of entering an office while others see you is unsettling. You need privacy!
Telehealth Therapy is an excellent option for those who want therapy but find it hard to seek it in person.
The procedure is straightforward.
We start with an online free 15-minute consultation. Don’t worry; I will not kick you off the phone if we need a few minutes longer. I will give time for you to feel heard.
After consultation, and if we decide to start sessions, I will add you to my schedule and provide you with a date. I will send the documentation you can access electronically with the network portal (SimplePractice). You can fill out the documentation and send it back electronically.
SimplePractice is an entirely HIPAA-compliant platform. Payment is made electronically through the Ivy Pay service, a HIPAA-compliant app. If you are uncomfortable with IVY pay, we can use other popular apps (Venmo and Zelle).
Telehealth Therapy is an online therapy you can do in your own space if you have Internet access on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Here’s what to keep in mind for online Telehealth Therapy.
Using online therapy can be as effective as face-to-face therapy.
Please make sure you have good Internet service, uninterrupted attention, and are in a quiet space.
Places that clients have used during sessions include the following: closets (funny, but if you have kids, you understand why!); garages (being inside the car can be a quiet space); office space (during your one-hour break or if you have uninterrupted time from work); living room space (TV off and away from distractions); home office (during your break or want a quiet place to talk without being interrupted): office space (also a great option); outside the backyard (seeing trees and being around nature); walking outside (you are welcome to walk your animal or go on a hike while we talk).
If we have any network interruptions, I am happy to switch to phone calls or keep trying till we get a better connection. I have never had this happen in a session, but we will work through it if it happens.
